Here's a decent example of a young male that hasn't quite yet got the "lipstick" kissed look to the beak yet so his beak has hen characteristics but it's definitely a boy

Thanks Tiffany, I emailed you more pics but hard to get a good accurate pic of her/his colours. I do understand what you're explaining and I agree because she in between.

Breeder seemed to be sure it was female but maybe some caracteristics were over looked.

My black's beak is on darker side but does have some red too

She is really confusing to figure out. Hard to bring out her real colours in pics.

I still go with the black head being hen.

BTW - here's another way to tell - have you seen "her" singing? Males would sing before 5-6 months of age. And a pair of males would sing to each other (if they are both males) as well as a male singing to a hen, obviously. So if "she" sings, then she's not a she!

Keep and eye on them.

It looked like a male in the first photo you posted, but the ones you've uploaded today look like she's a female.

Thanks, I'll try to get a better pic without flash, now that the room is bright.

I've heard a tweet, and I think was black one. but not the actual 'singing' The red one so far been quiet.
