Mine go nuts over the pea shoots!!! I buy them from the grocery store. Which type of pea seed do you use to grow them at home?

Olympic_Aiairies I usually use this product. I prefer organic if possible. http://www.amazon.com/Sprouting-Certifi ... B000P9ZK24
I can't get pea shoots from the grocery store. I live in a very isolated area where they have the barest minimal at the "store." We have to drive 75 miles every 2 months to buy food, or mail order it. This is perfect for us.

Mine love hemp seed kernels (the white centres from the seed). They are becoming popular with the health food market, but I get them by the sack free as a friend is the uk sales manager for the only uk grower. I originally got them for fishing & the fish in the pond like them as well (which cuts down on food costs for the animals!)

Hemp seed is in my finch bird seed. I feed mine organic chia seeds also. They are filled with omega 3 fatty acids and I sprout them also.

Haha, We actually do have a farm going with cows/bulls, turkeys, chickens, guinea hens, button quail, and a garden. But that's outside. I prefer the inside birds and such! They make me happy! :D

Has anyone tried Bok Choy? It's in my spinach mix, with Kale - but I'm afraid to try something that hasn't been mentioned! Thanks

I haven't tried Bok Choy but I've seen it listed among the recommended greens for canaries, along with the similar Choy Sum, so worth a try. You can feed the whole plant.

Mine get broccoli or broccolini, chilli and bell peppers, grated carrot and apple slice. Dandelion and milk thistle when I can find it. I also grow my own endive in pots. It's a great mineral rich alternative to lettuce and they love it.

I'll have to learn how to identify chickweed. It sounds like it's a favourite for many.

Thank you! I'll go ahead with the bok choy then. I'm going to start growing my own greens too. I do have dandelion in the garden, and incentive for weeding!
