I agree with Sally... might I suggest making a calendar or what you feed and when until you fall into a pattern that works for you and the birds. Keep it simple and easy to do.

I went away for two wonderful weeks in Alaska in August...the birds had pellets, seed, dried eggfood and Goldenfeast Australian Blend and did fine. The day after we got back they had a veggie and eggfood feast. They survived and did well, some had babies while I was gone. (my daughter took care of everyone!)

Thanks everyone for your help. I am taking notes and learning little by little. I'm not really stressing. Mainly wanted to provide information for others that might read this topic down the road.

Yes the Finch site you mentioned is where I got the info as someone on here told me to go there for info on veggies and such that were safe.

Oh and I love the calendar idea. I was mainly asking because Cindy (yep throwing you under the bus girl. LOL Just joking) said I needed to check that list before feeding.

Somewhere, I'm not sure it said if you put several things on the little plate for birds they would pick and choose and eat what they or there body was needing. Which is why I try to put like 5 little piles on the plate. But well they choose it all. LOL.

Yes...the FIC is a pretty handy place to go to get info on just about anything finches. I not only refer folks from here to it but do give out the species, diet and breeding/handfeeding sections/links to members on facebook bird groups.

the ones in my singnature are my groups...there are 3 others for grasskeets that I help run as well but there just is not enough room in the signatures to add them all.
