I've turned more and more towards using glass jars for storage, either canning jars (when I need uniformity of size, mostly for spices) or repurposed product jars, which are basically free.
Glass jars are easier to clean, can be sterilized, and are not subject to building up static electricity that makes fine particles stick to th side.
If you recycle product jars they are free. I especially like Looza juice jars.
