Egg Biscuits vs Egg Food

I was in my local pet store the other day looking for pre-made egg food, but all I could find was a box of egg biscuits. Do they offer the same benefits of egg food? Do I need to crumble them up in order to feed to my birds?

Egg biscuits have been around for ages, my mother used them when I was a girl to feed her finches and canaries. We clipped them onto the inside of the cage or put them in a treat cup, they pecked at them as they would a cuttlebone. We also gave them boiled eggfoods.
If you go to Bird Supply of NH you can order powdered egg food by ABBA. PetSmart and Petco carry Quicko eggfoods.

My birds really liked the Quicko eggfood from Petsmart, but here in Canada they have quit carrying it, and it's a bit expensive for me to order online. I now use Cede eggfood from a local bird supply store and the Gouldians seem to like it as well. They've also had Orlux eggfood and liked it. The egg biscuits were ignored unless I crumbled them, and they were an expensive way to give them eggfood.

I remember those egg bisquits too!

Orlux, Cede, Miracle Meal from Morning Bird are all good mixes of eggfood. I find my birds like the Miracle Meal and Orlux Gold Patee the best.
Of course they love hard boiled eggs too which can take the place of a dry eggfood product.

I give my birdies dry eggfood along with their seed, but my birds are picky when it comes to the real eggs.
They do not and will not eat hard boiled eggs. However, they LOVE scrambled eggs. Nothing else added, just scrambled in the pan, cooled, and chopped fine.

It is my understanding that the egg biscuits that you find in pet stores are mostly bread and little egg--all carbs. The commercial dry eggfoods listed in this thread are all much better. You can also make your own egg bread, here is a link to an excellent recipe:
