Does anyone know if a good quality wild bird food for finches ( brand name = Finch and Chips  ) cannot be fed to caged finches? If not, why not?

That seed mix only has Niger seeds and Sunflower bits. I'm not an expert, but it seems like a pretty fat filled meal. Plus there is no variety so they will probably not get the nutritional value of a more comprehensive mix.

Maybe if you used it as part of a mix that you used yourself?

Just my 2 cents...

Thanks, yeah, I feed a number of different things and I am always on the look out for more variety. I suppose I should have mentioned that I wasn't thinking of it as the sole food source. My flight allows for lots of exercise so a little high fat treat may not be such a bad thing for my fids.
I was wondering if there might be, I don't know, - um, safety issues. toxins? dead seed? Seeds that are not good for non-local birds like ours, etc.
Has any one tried it?

I would never personally feed my finches wild bird seed. In fact, I've switched my birds to pellets with seed (which I buy online from Herman Brothers) as an occasional treat!

It took them awhile, but now they all eat the pellets.
