As some of you know, I have used ground hemp seed in my eggfood to try to stimulate breeding in my finches. I have recently learned that in Europe, breeders have ceased using hemp seed, except for serins. They found that it tended to make some birds fat, and they also suspected that it could cause liver damage in some birds. I will no longer use this as an additive to my eggfood.
I suspect that just giving plenty of high-protein eggfood should stimulate breeding responses.
