Figs?

We have this wonderful fig tree in our back yard which wild birds attack endlessly, so I am hoping to feed some to my pair of zebras? Is that safe? Also, are fig branches a safe perch?

I have seen Fig on more than one safe list. So I would say it's okay. Whether your Zebras will eat it or not might be another story.

A friend does a lot of organic gardening...her solution for keeping squirrels and wild birds away as the fruits ripen, is to wrap the fruit (in her case peaches) in (clean) dog hair and cheesecloth.

That sounds like a logical idea, but that would mean like 500 hundred cheese cloths...dog hair is no problem. We have a chow chow
I guess the positive thing about figs is that it can be picked before they ripen and just let them sit a while.

Try mixing something they like (like maybe, um, figs??!) in with the eggfood. They'll probably pick out their favorite stuff and figure out that the rest isn't half bad, either.
(Anybody on the east coast need dog hair? My dogs are part chow!)
Too bad the birds can't use it to nest with......

I agree, my dog is a POOF.
Alright, I will try adding veggi and such. I really do not want Millet to become egg bound.

I find mine at Petco, I think Petsmart has it, too. Also a local small pet shop carries it. It seems to be very available every where and it is not expensive.

Is it the actually Egg food bird food or is it just egg food by itself?
