Ok... so 2 of 4 eggs have hatched in the last 2 or 3 days. I was wondering what foods should I provide for the parents to feed to the chicks.
Thanks in advance

you look for dry egg food also. there are many brands out there but what i use is Orlux. they need this alot especially when there are babys around.
another tip is to soak seeds(yellow millet and/or canary seeds) for 12-24 hrs. rinse them well and serve on a separate dish. serve 1 or 2 teaspoonful. the parents love to crack them and they find it easy to feed to the little babies. this has helped me alot on my breeding program. best of luck..

With Society finches, I would say the best thing to add to their basic diet is eggfood, either homemade or commercial. They need lots of protein, as these babies will grow incredibly fast.

I also made sure I had a sprig of millet hanging. It's got lots of fat the parents and chicks can use. My Societies had 4 chicks (22 days old and they still haven't fledged

) and I put egg food 3 times a day. With it I chopped up dandelion leaves, chickweed, extra crushed egg shell, and grated carrots for at least 2 of the egg food meals. keep reading on the internet and look up egg food recipes. They give you a lot of good ideas. congratulations on the new babies!!
