What type of Pellets/Seed do you use?

i was just wondering what type of pellet/seed food everyone uses.i use the Kaytee exact rainbow pellets and regular finch seed mix.ive noticed lately that the bird droppings have a `color`to them that i think is from the rainbow pellets? so im thinking of switching to non colored pellets to see if this makes it better, but instead of buying on a whim id like to see who prefers what
Thanks :D

I use the same thing you do. The weird thing is my finches don't like the pellets. :( probably the only finches on the planet that don't gobble them up. Go figure. I'm going to look for a different finch seed mix. there is so much in the standard mix that my finches won't eat. I end up dumping the majority. they won't eat the black seeds and mostly go for grass (?) seeds then ignore everything else in there. Grrrrr...

I use Abba finch seed mix and soaking seed mix. (And Abba parakeet mix for my budgies.)

I never had the impression that any of my birds cared a lot about pellets. They always seem to be left over...

Mine don't either, I figured seeing how they are seed eaters I'd just stick to seed and not try to change them. :)

my zebs took the pellets no prob, but my Javas dont seem to fond of them,im not sure if its cause i got them the budgie sized 1`s or if they just dont like them.
I read Javas like white millet, niger seed, rape seed and flax but im having a tough time finding a commercial mix that has what they need
seems the seed diets have them but pellets not so much :(

The keet size might be to tough to crack like a hookbill can...try the finch size...bet it will be easier for them to handle. Also with the size of the keet pellet I would worry if the javas tried to swallow it whole, it might choke them....mom's worry about stuff like that!!!

If the javas don't go for the Pretty Bird try the Zupreem fruit blend finch, smells good to...if they like it there are sites that you can order from in larger sizes...and a lot cheaper to.

I think im gonna go with the Zupreem,i called the petstore i normally go to (Petsmart) and they dont have the pretty bird so id have to go to Pj's for that then my regular store for the seed=to much travel time lol (wouldnt be so bad if my kids werent toddlers) but they do carry the Zupreem :D so now with the Zupreem do i still need to mix a seed diet into it or just give to them as is?
Thanks again Cindy,i owe ya 1!

Hi Cindy
I just wanted to let you know i got the Zupreem fruit blend Pellets for canary/finch and you were right, they loved it as soon as i filled their dish up they were right in it :D I bought the extra small pellets just to be on the safe side and im glad i did.
I also mixed in some ecotrition color blend in with it to give them a little extra.I think Storm is molting so i wanted to make sure all my bases were covered...
