Mealworm Sizes & Cordon Seed Mix Q's

Hey, picked up a pair of cordon bleus (blue breasted) today. Right now they're in a standard bird cage while I build their permanent one. I've read a couple of feeding articles, and luckily, I have hundreds of thousands of mealworms that I'm already breeding for my leopard geckos and fish. They're not these "mini mealworms", though; They're standard mealworms, with the biggest ones growing to the size of a small superworm. That being said, I have them from egg to beetle and plenty of each size, so I should be able to refrigerate the finch's preferred size, right? And what size would that be (1/2"?)?
I have some finch seed with millet, etc. in with them until I find out what they "should" be eating (and I'm sure I'll be burned for feeding them only that
). What kind of seed mix makes a good staple diet? And what vegetables are reccomended? Thanks.
And I wouldn't mind knowing what this "egg food" is, either.
