You're right -- they're spoiled and waiting for "Chef" to bring them supper.

You aren't alone! (but honestly I thought everyone did this) Every morning mine get (when not breeding) my birdy bread crumbles (recipe from Misty-thanks again!) fresh chopped dandelion greens and flowers, cucumber, corn and whatever else is in the crisper that I rotate for them, and of course the wonderful seed mix from Nancy. I have my finches in a basement bedroom and when they hear me come down the stairs in the morning you can hear a pin drop in their room! So I stand outside their door and say "Who wants breakfast?" and EVERYONE starts peeping, beeping and singing for their breakfast. It's so cute

Ah, you should always do all you can for the birds. In my opinion there's no such things as spoiling them, and there's always room for improvement!
However, I think I overdid it before, and I think my finch got fat. Took me some time to realize some items cannot be offered too much. Some of the long lived birds (and humans) ate a diet that's not too rich and no overeating.
I am new to birds so I tried very hard to give him everything. My bird started turning down chicken eggs once he's tasted quail eggs. Similar story with seeds and greens and fruits.
I worry about fatty liver disease and diabetes, etc. So now I am cutting back. Time to practice tough love!

I had the same problem. My GS were getting big and fat. So, I moved them to a larger cage for exercise and cut back on the amount of extras. They are lean, mean breeding machines now. LOL.

Hmm I wonder if that's a GS thing. I gotta get him lean. Otherwise Fatboy will never catch up to his new girlfriend when she arrives.
