Red Millet?

Is red millet the same as the millet spray?
It looks similar?

I have been giving it to my gouldian in quarantine and my firefinches, mixed in with their other seeds. But the birds have been scarfing up the red millet and hardly eating the other seeds. I'm worried that they are primarily eating that one seed and not getting balanced nutrition. It is the old question, are they just eating "desert?"
I supplement with egg+veggies.

i have bought millet spray that's the red variety, and also ones that are white. According to my research, they are both panicum miliaceum, just different varieties.
My green singer did not show particular interest in the red millet over the summer, but now he is gobbling it up. The foxtail millet has fallen out of favor. I wonder if it's seasonal?

mine all eat panicum and will take it over most other seed. I have never had problems with nutrition because of the amount the birds eat. I mix it with my other seed-finch mix and canary tonic seed- so there is some balance. the only problem here in cairns is that you can only buy it in 20kg (40 pound) bags

Thanks
I feel better now about how much red millet they eat vs the other seeds.
