Soaked oat seeds ?

a few weeks ago i started planting grass for my society finches. I used oat seeds - exactly the kind in the picture above, and the birds loved tearing the grass straws apart

What i noticed though, was that they weren't really interested in eating the grass - but the oat seeds! They pulled the straws from the pot just to get to the seeds
I found this interesting, i didn't think societies would eat such large seeds, but they loved them!
What do you think - is it a good idea to give them soaked oat seeds ? Or could it be bad for them ?

Nancy (Foosa101) and I have a thread on fresh seeds...she gave me a bag of oat seed and dried soybean seed. I used a coffee grinder or food processor to chop them up, the birds downed it especially my zebras.
