To date, I've only ever given my finches fresh vegetables from whatever we've bought for us for the week.

My male Java really loves corn but I'm trying to loose some weight and am avoiding corn. I hate to buy fresh for the birds and have to throw some away if it goes bad before they go through it all. Would it be ok to give them frozen corn?

Fresh will always be first option, but what about other frozen veggies?

Corn given in moderation should not be a problem. I use frozen from time to ime when the price of fresh has doubled or it is not readily available. I thaw it on the stove on a low heat, do not boil. I let the veggies cool then serve. Try the Publix mixed veggies or peas and carrots.

I hve also used the frozen corn on the cob, sliced it in circles and clipped to the side of the cage.

I use frozen veggies for my Parrotlets, when things Im looking for arent in season. I usually get the corn/carrot/broc mix. All you have to do to that it out is put some in a strainer and run hot water over it till its thawed out. Takes just a few seconds. Drain and serve.
For finches you probably would have to chop them up in tinier pieces.

I also use the frozen mixed veggies when I don't have fresh.. I also like the peas, carrot, corn, peas, green bean, mix designed for soups.

I have not had any issue giving either frozen or processed, mixed with the eggfood and then frozen foods to my finches. They gobble it all up.

I use frozen corn quite a bit, and frozen peas.

Another option is to buy a single ear of organic corn, blanche it. Then cut the kernels off, freeze it and take it out as needed.

I also give mine frozen corn kernels about once a week. All my birds love it. I thaw it for 30 seconds in the microwave.

Sometimes i do what nelloyello sugested - i make mixes of vegetables that i then put in the freezer in ice cube-moulds and thaw when needed

I have also served thawed veggies from the freezer, like spinach and corn, and my societies have always eaten the veggies with great appetite

Thank goodness, I've been using both frozen and fresh veges with the egg food so it's great to know that I'm doing somehting right with my new finches!!!

My finches must be picky or spoiled. Probably both, because they do not eat anything frozen. Even when I tried to make eggfood and freeze it to serve later, they would not touch the stuff. They turned their beaks up at frozen corn, peas, broccoli, carrots, etc. I thawed them as many of ya'll mentioned and chopped sometimes too. I don't know why they refuse and I wish they'd eat them because it sure would be cheaper on the budget.

I have never tried frozen, maybe I should!
