Seed dish?

This is about what the food is in and not the food itself..Covered seed dishes? Why do mine not seem to work? I even have one with the front covered at the corners and yet the zeb's still manage to land husk's three feet over the edge onto the floor. I have thought about puting some clear plexiglass on the lower edges but I don't have any tools.
So what do you use to keep the mess a minimum?

For seed I use the seed hoppers that you can purchase on a few bird product sites. I bought mine from justbirdstuff.com. They keep the mess in.

I had just purchased two of those seed hoppers and they are great!! Hardly any mess or wasted seed and you don't have to fill them so often. They get my vote!

I use a clear plastic birdfeeder, the type you attach with suction cups to the outside of your window to see the wild birds up close. I took the suction cups off and rigged up hooks to hang it inside the cage. It's not fancy, and it hangs a bit crooked, but it does a good job of keeping the seed mess contained.

Thanks for recomendations. I use the clear cup for the water. I sometimes dont like the clear one b/c my finches seem to want to try to eat bottom to top and worry they will try to hard and get crack beaks. Will defintely look into the hopper.

I forgot to ask, for the seed hopper, how big are these and how many can feed at once. It's a bit hard to tell from the pics. My finches like to push each other off the seed cup..

The seed hoppers generally handle one hungry bird at a time, or two if you have tiny waxbills. Generally it doesn't seem to be as much a matter of size and space as orneryness that limits it to one bird at a time!

I have 2 seed hoppers for my finches but sometimes both Gouldians or both Zebras will sit in one hopper and eat together.

I may have to get two for each cage, especially if they are as clean you guys say they are. I have 6 tray doors on my big cage but three are at the top. Go figure.
