Does anyone feed Zupreem?

Post by tina » Thu Aug 31, 2006 8:30 am

Does anyone use Zupreem for their finches and if so how well do they like it?

The young lady I got some of my finches from feeds it to hers along with millet and egg food, and they are gorgous birds when compared to the birds I got at the store that are eating seed diet.
Thank you,
Tina

Sorry, I don't use pellets. Surely somebody on this board does! If not, check the forum on finchworld.com - several of those members do.

I don't use the pellet diet either, but just thought that I would ask and see if anyone did and what they thought of it.
Thank you,
Tina

I use ZuPreem and my birds seem to like it just fine! Both of my birds were bought at the petstore and they took to the pellets with little fuss. Of course, I also feed them other things for variety. :)

I haven't tried ZuPreem, but my birds like Laffeber's, Kaytee Exact pellets (too bad my local store only carries the 'rainbow'/dyed version), and Harrison's pellets. I offer all 3.

All of my birds have been converted to a pellet-based diet. Seed is offered as a treat.

The ZuPreem is "rainbow colored" food too. I used to use these colored feed cups for this food and there would be days when my birds seemed to only eat certain colors, leaving practically only one color in the cup!

I was also wondering if anyone uses ZuPreem AvianMaintenance FruitBlend Flavor for canaries and finches or the AvianMaintenance Natural diet . The directions say that additional supplements aren't required AND could be harmful. It seems with using these mixes other supplements would'nt be necessary. Would this be a decent replacement for fresh foods or would things like egg food still be required? I supply ground oyster shell and a cuttle bone also. Would these still be needed?

We use Zupreem...my 'tiels and the parrots eat the Natural...

...the finches will all eat the coloured pellets too...and I like the idea of feeding them pellets so they get their vitamins and minerals...but I don't like the coloured pellets...as mentioned, they won't eat some colours...

...and the colour make the poop stain! The finches have period free flight...not good! :(

Regardless of what the packaging says, it's still recommended that only about 60-70% of the diet be pellets and that the rest should be fresh foods (egg, veggies, some seeds, etc.).

Thanks, there are so many misleading claims on some of these products it just gets a little confusing sometimes. That's why I love this forum so much! :D

I feed my birds Zupreem, but the Gouldian I got (about two weeks ago) hasn't really shown any interest in it, so I've started mixing it with a seed mix. I also feed eggfood and greens.

How do you all feel about packaged egg food? My fids seem to like it. Any favorite brands?

I keep the dried stuff in a cup in all of the cages for them to pick at, plus mix it with my fresh egg to dry it a little (as well as stretch it, add additional nutrients, etc). I switch back and forth between the Quiko for Exotic Finches (the purple package) and Birdcare Company Gold Label Feast.

Like Hilary, I add it to my scrambled eggs to dry them out and to add vitamins. None of my birds would eat the store bought eggfood very well but they gobble it up when mixed with fresh eggs.

I use Quiko for Exotic Finches.

I keep a small dish of the dry Quiko for Exotic Finches in all my cages.
All the different species seem to like it. I have a few that don't care for the regular egg food, didn't think to mix a little of the two :o ....maybe that will interest them.
