New Finch Toy

Post by FeatherHarp » Mon Feb 18, 2008 5:10 pm

I just got this new item for my Finches. I saw them using it in the pet store in the finch cages. I guess it is really a Gerbil treet ball but I see they put nesting material in there.

I put some lettuce in there so far and they really seem to go after it. I will also try it for nesting material when I get ready to breed my Owl Finches (which I am still waiting for...sigh!)

Anyway just wanted to share a pic and was wondering if anybody else has one of these and what other kinds of things do you put in there?

OH! I have that! I usually stuff it with nesting material. My societies will hang off of it all day!! They usually don't touch the lettuce when I put it in that toy. I have to hang the lettuce with a clip. I think I'll try it again and with some other tasty stuff

Your finchies should adore that :D

When my zebra finches were breeding I filled this thingy full of nesting material and they loved it. Good idea to put lettuce in it. That I will have to try!

Very nice, I might have to try it out with mines.

Eel Noob....I have been noticing that the Zebras seem to be the big hogs of the ball. The Gouldians are not as keen to land on it and pick the lettuce...but they are getting braver.

My Zebra finch brothers seem to be the "gotta be there first" kind of birds! :D

I have one of these in my bird's cage and all I ever put in there is KAYTEE Natural Timothy Hay and my birds love it! They use it for nesting material and they love to just play with the pieces. It has seed pods on some of the ends of the hay which they also love. It's found in the guinea pig/rabbit area at Petsmart. They had this in all of the bird cages there too. Hope this helps :)
