This is the first time I have offered my Black-faced grassquits eggfood!! I put a wooden bowl with an entire egg, chopped clover and carrots, ad crushed pellets o top of the eggfood, and a few chunks of millet spray. The millet spray was to lure them in. I took away their seed for the past half hour so I knew they would be snacky. I moved away, and the hen dove right into the bowl!

I am happy they love it , mine are awful in that respect. Maybe I should also remove all food before giving them egg and carrot....

I give my finches their morning eggfood and veggies and then come back after I've changed the water, to give the seed. That takes me about one hour, so they have time to eat the heatlhy stuff first. They all seem to look forward to the morning snack and mid morning seed later.

Diana, try giving them the eggfood before changing seed!
Deborah, I did that over the summer and last year, but I would have to wake up at 5am so I would have time to get reay. I wish I still could serve it in the am!

The water is what takes me so long, as the cups get full of stuff and I need to wash them out. The food is quick. I use small paper plates, for fresh food, and lay it down as soon as I wake up and take it up after I'm ready for work, which is about two hours later. Then, they have a seed hopper for the day. When there are chicks, I give dried and fresh eggfood, millet, veggies, and seed. So, they can eat all day until I get home. When I'm home, I feed my pairs with hatchlings 3-4 times a day. When I'm busy, I may only get 2-3 feedings in a day, but I try for at least 3 if the hatchlings are over 3 in number.
