Egg food - Help.

Hi

I have been advised to feed egg food as my society is sitting on her 5 eggs. I didn't get to her in time before she laid them. I started by giving them Egg & Biscuit, both wet and dry, they haven't touched it, if they have it's only a tiny amount and I have never seen them eat it. I throw it out every day.

Today I boiled an egg and mashed it up and put it in when I seen her out of the nest. She didn't go near it.

How long can I leave it in the cage before it goes bad? I have the rest in the fridge, I only boiled one egg. Also, how long can I leave it in the fridge?

Thanks =D>

I spread my egg thinly on a dish so it drys out before going bad and change it out every morning. I would only keep the egg in the frig for about 3 days.

Try sprinkling a little bit of their seeds on top, maybe that will get them interested :)

instead of mashing it, try to grate it finely. Mine won't touch it mashed...they may go for it once chicks hatch.

I think I read that you can also keep it in the freezer so that you can keep it longer? - correct em if I am wrong :wink:

Mine don't eat the whole egg with in 3 days.. I also mix in some corn meal so it dries out before it gets bad.. until I get some lefaber finch stuff :)

My soc's took to it like water, and now when I put in that small yellow food hook thing they know what it is and flutter to it as soon as I leave the cage. Good luck! :D

@debbie276 thats a really great idea!
