Quinoa in water 2 hours ago, sprouting already?

Hello!

So I got quinoa today, the organic white kind for the nesting soc's I have.
It's already sprouting after 2 hours! Does this mean I can give it to them already? Maybe another 2 or so hours?
Or wait the 12 or so

I would leave it 12 hr -24 hrs so there is more nutrition. You can certainly feed them the newly soaked seed, no harm at all. I dont think it really has sprouted after 2 hrs soaking- quinoa has the squirrly little bit on the seed that looks like a sprout but is not.

they totally look like sprouts lol I guess them being soaked is what makes the squiggles come out!

I wanted to ask as well, do you soak them for 12-24 hours or do you rinse them, and leave them out and let it sprout out of water?
another Q, do you rinse before you give it to them?

I feed soaked quinoa on a twice weekly basis with shaved broccoli tops and finely shredded carrots. I use both white and the red quinoa.

Set it to soak at dinner time the night before, in the morning in a fine strainer, rinse it well, if not it can be bitter. Mix in your veggies. MY finches, javas all love it, bourkes, scarlets and especially my Budgies finish it completely.

You can leave it to soak for another 6 hours also a total of 18 hrs. Store any extra in an air tight container in the fridge, use the next day. Figure about a teaspoon per two finches, a tablespoon per two keets

In addition, I do make up my chitted seed and freeze it. If you've rinsed and drained very well, the seed is somewhat crumbly and is fairly easy to spoon out.
Always rinse your soaked and sprouting seed.

@Perfex I will do that! I just have to drain it to almost dry??? I tried that with eggs.. I guess they were still a little wet to freeze and they were not very crumbly.

If you drain it, flip the quinoa and let all the water drain off....I am surprised when I put it down how fast birds are down on it...how fast some clear the plates.
