Egg food Q, vinegar in water for easy peel?

So I was making egg food just now and I always use vinegar then shock the eggs for easy peel.

Then realized is this OK for the birds? To take in the shell that's been boiled with vinegar?
Would it not penetrate through the shell? I was just wondering if anyone has an easy peel way apart from vinegar/salt/shock...

chirpy I use salt. I even add a little salt to the eggs because every now and then they like the taste. Vinegar I am not sure about but I don't think it could be that bad.

I add organic apple cider vinegar to my drinking water at the rate of 1 Tbs. per gallon of water, so anything at that rate or less would be perfectly fine. I prefer apple cider vinegar to regular vinegar.

i use ACV in their water and bath water same ratio so i will try that with the eggs too.

I get super annoyed when half the egg is on the shell and I just want to throw the egg away lol the other day I forgot to put vinegar in the water when i was making about 10 deviled eggs and I was just about to throw in the towel!

Just a little FYI, older eggs peel much better then fresh so if you have that much trouble peeling your eggs they must be very fresh.

I guess I have very fresh eggs then! I literally would lose half the white! and I was like "I am not going to peel it off the shell as well.. this is really stupid! aghhh!

I just boil my eggs in tap water, nothing added.
Then I dump the hot water and rinse the eggs in cold tap water for 3 min, then peel.

Usually, the eggs peel fine. Every once in a while I will have an egg where I just cannot get the shell to peel without taking some of the white as well. The odd thing is that sometime it is just one of the 3 eggs that does not peel easily, the other peel just fine.

ac12 mine are horrible when I just use tap water!! Half the white is stuck even if I shock in iced water! Lol is it that I can't boil eggs haha!
I've been using ACV, like quarter teaspoon and its been good. And they seem ok with it.

I found fresh from the chickens peel better than some I have gotten from the store...not sure why. My issue is peeling boiled eggs that have been refrigerated. Any tips...would warming them under the tap help? I usually boil a dozen and use three or 4 at a time, chill the rest.

For easier peeling, use eggs that are 7 to 10 days old.

Very fresh eggs can be difficult to peel. To ensure easily peeled eggs, buy and refrigerate them a week to 10 days in advance of cooking. This brief "breather" allows the eggs time to take in air, which helps separate the membranes from the shell.

Hard-boiled eggs are easiest to peel right after cooling. Cooling causes the egg to contract slightly in the shell.

I'm just wondering...I never peel the eggs. I crush them up shell and all for the finches. Did I miss something?

I peel more for us when making egg salad....shells are an issue getting off if the eggs are in the fridge overnight.

I peel the eggs for the birds after cooking, toss a few unshelled in the fridge for us.

hmmmm I just take a bowl of ice water and take the boiled eggs right from the pot to the bowl... the instant shock makes them very easy to peel

finchmix22 lol I do too but I have chicks so some said the shells might be too sharp etc. I grind them to powder and mix later after I mash.

When they are grown ill do that though

But when I want them to just eat the shells and egg as a treat I wanted to leave just the shell in their cage.

Another Q though;
Do you all peel that thin white thing from the shell? I've been doing that lol. Is that stupid? Not sure if that goes "off" so I peel it.

I do the same, just toss the whole hardboiled eggs in the food processor and chop them up. However, if I'm doing hardboiled eggs for myself, then I do have trouble peeling them, I'll try some of the tips here.
