Eat well....

Post by cindy » Wed Aug 21, 2013 10:09 am

my feathered friends!!!

A serving of soaked quinoa, chopped broccoli including the stems 1/4 inch down, grated carrots and parsley. The all time favorite of the English budgies and grasskeets. The Scarlets love this and I am barely through the door and they are upon the dish!!! Adding parsley was a new twist today!

That does look yummy! Do you cook the quinoa, or just soak it?

I have made it both ways but the love it best soaked, it starts to sprout a little I fill a big bowl up with warm water and add the quinoa, I do this the night before at dinner time. Let it sit over night then in the morning pour the water and quinoa through a very fine screen strainer.

The water will be cloudy so you need to rinse the quinoa well. I have handles on the strainer and I gently toss and rinse a few times. Toss to shake extra water out then let it stand to dry and drain while I chop whatever is going into the mix.

Any extra goes into the fridge. Tomorrow with the extra mix I will add collard greens finely chopped and possibly some grated boiled egg.
