Has anyone noticed a seed preference by sex? While my male Gouldian really likes millet spray, my female Gouldian shows a distinct preference for diversified seed mix.

I notice a seed preference by individual not necessarily by sex. :)

I have noticed that my females like veggies and eggs more than the males. The males like millet and oats more than the females. Another curious thing is the males are more friendly than the girls. They will sit in a line and listen to me talk then pick at my hair. So cute. These are all societies by the way.

My male Gouldian is more friendly than the female as well. When I sit by their cage, the male will come over to investigate, while the female is much more skittish.

I wish they would eat more egg food. While I see the male dabbling in it from time to time, I hardly ever see the female touch it.

The only thing I've noticed is that they change their preferences for reasons I don't comprehend.
Just as I've decided to stop giving this one eggfood, or that one greens because they never touch it - the next day I find their dishes practically licked clean.
So I just keep offering everything to everyone, let them eat what they want and try to remember that tossing a few teaspoons of cabbage in the trash every day isn't a big deal, especially when my birds' health is at stake. After all, they can't exactly order in Chinese or fly to the meadow down the road - they only have access to whatever I put in their cages.
