I just bought some bloodworms at the petsmart for my fish but it dawned on me that these birds should probably like bugs as well so next thing i did was drop a few small dried bloodworms in the cage a few moments later they were practically fighting over it . i want some feedback wether it is a good idea to feed the finches dried bloodworms in their diet.

If you do a search on the FF for Freeze Dried Bloodworms, you'll find many posts about people offering these regularly to their finches. Mine all love them, especially during breeding season.

Some people have severe allergic relations to freeze dried bloodworms.
You can also consider mealworms or the easiest is serving hard boiled egg crushed up. My birds love egg.

I started adding the freeze-dried blood worms to the dish of daily live mealworms. It took a while, but now they eat the mealworms first, then gobble up the bloodworms.

I get my FD Blood Worms from here:http://www.brineshrimpdirect.com/c7/Fre ... s-c38.html

Buy a pound and it will last quite a while...best value. My finches love them.

Most of my birds (waxbills) love the freeze-dried bloodworms, which are very high in protein, but there is always the exception. I have a few pairs that won't touch their eggfood if f/d bloodworms are added. I just have to keep note of which ones are picky.
