Zebra finches in a cage
Can I put all of my male zebra finches together suddenly? Since I want to see which one get along with another, currently some of them have some females they stay with next to its cage. Are they going to be sad when I put only male in a cage and female in a cage? I am thinking to put around 10boys in a cage and 10girls in a cage. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Re: Zebra finches in a cage
What size cage are you putting them in?
There are many on the forum that separate males and females so I'm sure they will do fine as long as they get along and the cage is large enough.

Re: Zebra finches in a cage
Hi Debbie, I am thinking to put 10 finches in a flight cage, it will be look like this:

But only for temporary since I want to see which one/ones the most aggressive ones first and then separate them in other cages
I am sure there are some pluckers from both the males and females

I'm not a zebra expert but that cage (30x18) seems a bit small for 10 zebra's, especially if you don't want to trigger aggression by over crowding them.

Re: Zebra finches in a cage
Having raised zebras for years...my opinion it is to small for 10...may be fine for 4 to 5 but not 10.

Re: Zebra finches in a cage
I see. Let me try 4-5 at a time, and see how they get along with each other first. Then I move the next 4-5finches to a new cage, just more work for me by moving many times hehe. How long it takes for finding the aggressive one? They sometime fight different time of the day or even week right? Thanks again for replying
