Greens and veggies
What greens (ex. Romaine, kale, broccoli) are you feeding your Strawberry and other finches? My lavenders, society and blue caps all eat broccoli, kale, romaine, and other greens. They also eat green beans, carrots, corn, squash, zucchini egg food and such. Not these strawberry finches. Think I should go out looking for Boc Choy or something.

Re: Greens and veggies
Romaine always #1 choice!
BABY Kale close up - sometimes whole leaf, sometimes chopped into tiny pieces in food processor.
They all totally ignore the big, "frilled" kale.
They also devour:
Cucumber
Corn on the Cob
Shredded carrots
Green peas
Broccoli (some eat the heads shaved off, some pick at it whole)
Some like, some ignore:
All kinds of fruit;
melon, cantaloupe, strawberries, bananas, pears, etc.
Bee Pollen
Shredded coconut
(Remember avocado is supposed to be toxic to birds)
I am sure there are some I am forgetting - but always buy whatever is fresh and organic. (although I have NEVER seen organic corn on cob, even at expensive Whole Foods, etc.)
If they ignore at first, don't despair! Keep trying. One will get brave and try something new, others will then follow.
Have fun!

Re: Greens and veggies
Are these wild-caught? My wild-caughts took to my eggfood readily, but they have been less than enthusiastic about veggies. I am going to get some sprouted wheatgrass at the pet store, that should tempt them. Try chopping the kale into small pieces, or mixing chopped broccoli in with your eggfood, or just giving them slices of cucumber. Sometimes when I can't get birds to try things, I will add a teacher bird to their cage/flight for a time, to show them that it is good to eat. This is also how I will teach my birds to use seed hoppers when they refuse to try them out.

Re: Greens and veggies
My strawberries are nibbling on kale, but they really have been devouring every bit of eggfood and sprouted seed I've given them.
