Sounds yummy. Which seeds do you use? Do you hull them or just have bits and pieces of hulls in the mix?

I toss the seed in at the end of the cook time for the quinoa, just enough to soften a bit.

Don't know why I was thinking you were chopping the seeds and not leaving them whole so there would be bits of hulls in the mix :( I think I will blame the snow storm and the stress of thinking about how much I need to go shovel now =))

I did the kale and carrots in the chopper while the quinoa and seed cooked....boiled eggs in another pot...while the drained quinoa and seed cooled (added the dried rolled oats) I then de-shelled and grated eggs. Mixed together and served!!!

Looks yummy! I know they appreciate it. 8)

I actually enjoy spending hours prepping and serving salad, changing water, etc.

Gave mine some green beans yesterday, for the first time. Plain ones, "steam in bag". Only did 1/2 the time. Chopped finely, and they LOVED it.

I think most of our birds eat better than our families do.

I don't think they eat better... I KNOW they eat better lol. I had some bird salad in a container in the fridge that was left over. Well, my son ate it all, then got mad at me saying that I made him eat bird food. I laughed my head off.

I think we would all be healthier if we ate what Cindy's birds are eating. LOL

Cindy can you post the amounts of the ingredints and cooking instructions.
Please. I tried Sahara Sunset cooked but adding these other items might get my birds to eat it.

Thanks

When I chop kale in my food processor, it gets quite mushy and very watery. I'm not thrilled with that consistency in my veggie mix. How do you chop kale?

Sally
I agree when chopping in a processor, some veggies make is watery. You may need to chop with a knife.

To make sure the kale is not going to get mushy ( don't use the bottom wide rim section, that contains a lot of water) make sure after rinsing it until it is almost dry, pulse the food processor only a few times. It gets mushy when you run it to long...I use a Ninja and it just takes a few pulses and it comes out like parsley flakes. Also I use the kale that is cut up, organic in bags.
