Uh oh...just read here not to feed parsley to finches. I read on other sites that parsley is non toxic. Do I feed it to them or no?? I buy the baby spring mix bag of greens and I have thyme, parsley and broccoli. I just got egg food and oyster shell i sprinkle in the seed. And I ordered the soluvite some of the members were raving about. Ok so now do I nix the parsley?

I have found contradicting information on parsley also, not just for birds, but my small mammals/rodents also. Don't know who or what to believe.

Data, info, experiences, anyone?

I feed it to all my birds about once a week in a chop mix.

"•Parsley is a particularly nutritious green plant but for whatever reason, it has long been suspected of being poisonous to birds. Parsley is not toxic to birds and can be fed in moderation without any problem. It is a good source of iron, beta carotene and vitamins B1, B2 and C. Parsley contains most of the amino acids that are the "building blocks" of protein. Medicinal benefits: Parsley is useful as a blood purifier. It detoxifies harmful contaminants, promotes healthy skin and feathers, tones the digestive system, prevents kidney ailments and treats arthritis. It also acts as a natural antibiotic."

All of my birds have eaten parsley going way back. (30 yrs or more) There has never been any adverse effects to my canaries, finches, lovebirds, and now again with canary, zebras, societies and now green singers.

I have never heared about it being bad for birds. Who came up with that idea?

I feed the regular curley parsley, not the celantro. Not for any special reason, simply because I don't like celantro personally.

Never heard it was bad for finches. I've offered it to mine but they didn't care for it. I guess they know what to eat and what not?!?!

Mine eat parsley without a problem and they all seem to enjoy it when it is on offer. Especially my societies and canaries.
