Question- how long after taking mealworms out of the fridge does it take for them to be active?

Not too long, about 15 minutes or less. Unless, your fridge is extra cold.

If they have been out of the fridge since yesterday, they should be more active by now. Try putting a little slice of raw potato (or carrot) in with them, that should wake them up!

Thanks, I added a slice of apple, that got them moving. I am used to superworms, they are much more active.

If you leave your mealworms out of the fridge all of the time they will pupate and eventually become beetles. Keep them in brand/ oatmeal mix and fresh veggies every day (take them out at night) and they'll breed like crazy. You'll never have to buy another mealworm! I bought 50 mealworms a few years ago and I still have a colony, probably over 400. I have 6 reptiles as well so lots of mouths to feed.

That is the plan, trying to breed them myself.
