Successful Pellet Conversion (sort of)!

Hello everyone,
When I got my java pair I had already decided I would go through the strenuous process of converting them on to a pellet diet. I chose to use the Laferber's premium daily diet for finches. Today I decided to do 100% pellets instead of 75/25 pellet/seed mix (started at 10/90, increased gradually). My female ate it right now, I nearly wept with joy. However my male still seems tentative. Will seeing his mate eating the pellets encourage him to try them, or should I still offer a small dish of their seed mix? I just don't want my female going back to a seed junkie!
Thank you for any input,
Trav

I would NOT give a pellet only diet any more then I would recommend a seed only diet. There are lots of good things in seeds and if seeds were so bad I doubt there would be seed eater birds ( http://bomy.wikidot.com/seed-eaters ). I would at least supplement with seeds if your set on a pellet diet.

I agree with Debbie, give a mixture of seed and pellets, but do not totally exclude seeds. The finches need the hulling to help them not be bored and to eat a more natural diet too.
