How long to leave out?

Post by Harley2013 » Wed Sep 17, 2014 8:45 pm

I use commercial Quiko egg food mixture for my finches. I mix it with a tiny bit of water to make it crumbly and place in a dish inside cage, I have been doing this every couple days but was wondering, it is a dry mixture only moistened by water, does it spoil as well as a hard boiled egg would? How long should or can I leave this out in the cage before tossing?

I don't think it would spoil as quickly; however, I'd still change any wet/moist food at the end of the day and start with a fresh batch the next day.

I also use a dry egg food mix which I moisten but I replace it daily with a fresh batch. I don't think it would go off as quickly as fresh egg but it's not a chance I would want to take.

By changing it daily, I can also monitor how much is being eaten. I can then increase or decrease accordingly.
