Java Diet Question

Recently my female Java has been throwing out, looking thru her mineral grit for something. The male has been doing this a little bit too. What is it they are looking for? I provide Higgins mineral grit, plain crushed oyster shell, and Kaytee mineral grit as I always have. They also have crushed egg shell, cuttlebone, and some of the trace mineral powder from Lady Gouldian Finch (which they don't touch). What is the best brand of grit for them? Thanks in advance for replies.

I don't offer special grit for my Javas or any birds and never have and they do perfectly. They like to eat soil and peat out of potted plants though.

I have over 30 java...they will do this even with their seed looking for a seed they relish. You are supplying a lot of different sources of calcium. Is there one brand in particular that they prefer and possibly running out of in the dishes if you are mixing it....I would narrow it down to one or two specific brands they prefer so they are not wasting so much especially if you are not providing other sources of calcium or it they are not breeding.
The DEW java you got from me was raised with the Higgins Snack Attack Blue Mineral Grit offered only occasionally, the pellets and vitamins I supply have more than enough calcium and D3 in it. Could it be they may be playing in it more so than eating it.
