I have a couple of gouldians who will only eat seeds, and veg. I "think" they occasionally pick at dried eggfood, but I can't be sure. They will also eat soaked and sprouted seeds.

They are overweight and need to eat different things!

I've tried all sort of different eggfood recipes, adding garlic powder, adding dried eggfood to the mix, scrambled, mashed, cheese gratered into tiny little wormy strips, everything. I'm going to try half a whole egg next, I have a friend who says his birds love eating the yolk out of the middle...

Anyone have any more tips or tricks to get these two to try new foods?

These birds were apparently raised on a wide range of things.....they just won't eat much here. I have owned them since Sept 2007. They are 18 months old.

Kate, gouldians can be very picky when trying new foods. Your best option would be to "cheat" them by mixing it with the other foods, in my case I mix the eggfood (dry) with the veggies and also add some boiled egg and they absolutely love it. In fact they will finish the wet food first before going to the other foods like seeds.

But it took me about a week to train them to eat this new mix so patience is very important. The way to do this is to remove all food about an hour before they go to sleep and only offer the new food early the next morning when the birds are hungry. Leave the new food for an hour or two then replace their normal food so they don't starve, repeat this a couple of days in a row and I can guarantee you they will eat the eggfood.
