I'm not embarrassed to say I had to Google a potato ricer...

If an entire egg can fit in it I'm totally on board. Are they that large? Because it seems like it would work great.

I'll have to pick up a garlic press as well. At first I was doing the fork thing, currently I'm using the smallest grove on my cheese grater.

A good sized potato ricer, could probably fit two or more eggs at a time. I think you will love it.

The garlic press works well. If you can, pick up the larger size, that you can usually get in Italian stores. Or go the route of the potato ricer ( if you have larger amounts of eggs to deal with).

I think they have them in stores that sell dishes, like pots and pans and such. It used to be that you could get them pretty much anywhere, but not anymore.

I used to put my eggs through a garlic press, but that took too long. If I'm doing about four eggs, enough for two days around here, I will mash with a fork. If I make 6 or more, I put them in my Cuisinart Mini-Prep food processor and get the same results. Takes all of ten seconds, max.

I just hate the fork method. The consistency is weird and it doesn't mix well with my dry ingredients. And my birds won't eat the big chunks.

Thanks for the tip, although I have not seen this particular product here. Did you order it on line?

I usually cook 4 to 6 eggs at a time. My guys go through that in 2 days, give or take. My usual mix, is just eggs and spray millet. The mix mentioned above, is a special once a week mix.

Hi Linda.

I don't put the egg shells into my egg food. I save them, dry them and crush them into tiny bits, which I add to my bird grit , along with grated cuttle bone, mineral block, and iodine block. That way my birdies do the chicken hunt and peck, and take whatever they want or need.

lovezebs, I do the same thing. I save my egg shells until I get a batch, then I microwave them, dry them, and then crush them into very small bits in the blender.

Does anyone else have a problem like me? When I hard boil the eggs, (or even if my mom gives me her shells from when she makes eggs for breakfast) I have to peel them...twice pretty much, I tried just mashing the entire egg shell and all for my egg food, but i noticed there is a clear film like that the shell is attached to it's between the shell and the actual edible white part of the egg. This "film" doesn't mash up, and i found my bird with this LONG string of all smashed up eggshells hanging out of her mouth, and she couldn't get them... Does this happen to anyone else? The film made me so nervous that I stopped doing that, i felt like they could choke, or get it wrapped around something...SO now when I hard boil the eggs i peel the shells off, the once the shells are off the egg, I peel the shells off of this film!!! It's a little time consuming, but wondering if anyone else ran into this issue? Thanks all!
