Can any of the freeze dried insects be a good substitute for live food?
also do i still need to treat birds with worm away or anything like that if i give them freeze dried worms and any other type dried insects?

I think the freeze dried blood-worms are very good. If you have a outside aviary where the birds can browse on the ground, they tend to get infected. Together with the food that they eat off the earth, they tend to ingest some parasites. If your birds don't have access to the ground, they can't really get infected. Once they are worm-free, they should stay that way.

Agree with Marius, if you are feeding dried insects and your birds are in flight cages, there should be very little risk of worms. Dried insects are also a good source of protein if your birds accept them. I tried dried mealworms and mini-crickets but none of my birds were keen. They definitely prefer their food to wiggle...

My birds, like Marius, are in an outside aviary with access to anything that crawls or flies into the aviary. I worm quarterly because the risk is much higher for my birds.

So can we say all freeze dried insects are ok and they don`t have any potential risks and if i feed my birds with freeze dried insects i don`t have to treat them with any meds even for prevention since they are in flight cages indoors?
