I know it goes bad or it isn`t fresh after sometime so i decided to keep my finch seed mix in a wine cooler 65F degrees. Can i keep the commercial egg food mix and dried insect mix there too or doesn`t matter?

I don't have room in my freezer for everything. I keep my seed mix in insect-proof storage containers from Petsmart, it has orange oil added to it, and I go through it fast enough that I don't worry about it getting old.

I use Volkmann's gourmet egg food, which I get when we have marts in the area, so I do stock up and keep that in the freezer. I buy 15# bags, and then divide them into plastic storage containers. I have not kept dried insect mixes in the freezer, but perhaps I should. I make up my homemade egg food in large batches, at least 36 eggs at a time (I have even made up 72 eggs at once), then divide it into freezer containers that hold enough for one or two days.

Whenever I buy a seed mix/treat mix that has a lot of niger in it, I will freeze that mix, because niger becomes rancid quite fast. I haven't sprouted seed in a while, but when I do, I sprout/chit a large quantity and freeze it, so it is readily available when I need it.

I have a small wine cooler which I purchased so I could keep white worms, as they need to stay about 55 degrees. I have also kept phoenix worms in the wine cooler. Mealworms that are ordered in bulk are kept in the refrigerator so they don't mature so quickly.

Seeds are kept in plastic buckets with covers. I go through them very quickly, so that they never go stale or rancid.

My live feeding mealworms are kept in the fridge, so that they stay small.

My freeze dried mealworms are kept in the cupboard in re-sealable bags. Never had any problems with them, and then again, I go through them fairly quickly, so that once a bag has been opened, It gets used up quick.

My egg food, I make myself, and keep in the fridge for no longer than couple of days. My guys prefer fresh.

The store bought egg food, which I don't buy very often, is kept in the cupboard in a resealable bag.

Fresh foods, such as greens, veg, and fruit, are washed, prepared and served right away.

When you fast goes fast how fast? A week,month, few months?
currently when i buy few lbs of seed mix it takes around 3 months for me to finish. I divide it into 3 bags and keep one in a drawer by the cage 2 bags in 65F wine cooler.
What do you say; i am assuming it will take me around 3-6 months to finish eggfood and dried insects, should i keep them in wine cooler too?

I keep seeds in air tight containers and use it within a month or so.
My eggfood I keep in the frig because I don't make a huge amount at a time and use it within 3-4 days.
Handfeeding formula I keep in the freezer for those emergencies and to add to my hard boiled eggs.
If your going to breed you should have handfeeding formula available as well as liquid calcium. It can be a lifesaver

Fresh seed if stored right can last up to 3 yrs. If storing it I rubbermade containers on concrete raise it up of the floor a bit perhaps on a ventilated shelf.

You can freeze the seed. I keep extra seed in the freezer and the rest in the refrigerator. The commercial egg food is also refrigerated. Everything is kept cold. There is even timothy hay in the freezer to make sure there aren't any bugs in it.

Everything is refrigerated for me.
