herb salad

Post by slwatson » Wed Apr 29, 2015 2:34 pm

I've noticed several people mentioning herb salad in the food forum...does anyone have a good herb salad mixture they can recommend? I have four society and two gouldian finches. Thank you!!!

I use the Herb Salad sold by Twin Beaks Aviary. I simply offer it free choice in a small cup, and my birds help themselves to what they want.

Thanks for the info! I think I have a sample of some that was sent with some spray millet I ordered online. I'll try it out!

I leave it for my birds, but my Zebs won't go near it, it makes them sneeze, if it's even in the cage with them!!! lol so they steer clear!

I just got a bag from Twin Beaks Aviary. I sprinkle it on their seed/pellet mix. Since it's so new for them, I don't know if they like it or not.

I use the same herb salad from Twin Beaks Aviary and another brand from petsupermarket and mix them together. I've seen all my finches eat it.

Hi slwatson,

Another good supplier of Herb Salad is LadyGouldianFinch.com

She offers two free samples of various finch food and supplement items with every order.
I, too, was extremely curious about Herb Salad and wanted to order a full-size package but most of the online finch supply companies I know of were sold out.

I ended up placing an order with LadyGouldianFinch.com for some other stuff and got the Herb Salad as one of my free samples.
For some reason my finches don't care for it
I also got a sample of the Health Greens and my turns out birds do like that so I went ahead and ordered a bag of it.

Just an idea in case you're having a hard time finding it or your birds don't take to it :D

I use Twin Beaks Herbs from Lady Gouldian Finch and Higgins greens mixed. My Javas occasionally picked at it, but when one wasn't feeling well, I noticed it disappeared pretty fast. I keep it in a separate dish.
