I know that termites are supposed to be one of the best live foods for finches, but the thought of bringing them in my house gives me nightmares!

They look scrumptuous...for a finch. LOL. Where do you get them?

I feed my finches termites that already come mixed in their egg food. Where do you get just termites?

Those termites look live. If My Finches is from outside the U.S., he may be able to collect them himself or buy them. There are a few in the U.S. who collect them from the wild, but I would be afraid of bringing them in my house and having them get loose and eating the house down.

Hello Sally

I live in Australia in Queensland. And my dad cut the termites nest either from where I live or jobs my dad does.

I would love to see your set up for your finches! Can you post pics of your aviary and the nest that your dad made you? You have some lucky birds....and it's really cool that both you and your dad share in breeding finches. Lucky you!

How intriguing...I'd love to find a source for termites for these pesky waxbills. The fact that they feed for a week and a couple of days on eggfood and then quit just drives me bananas.
