dry seed mix, what do you make available

Post by mickp » Thu Aug 14, 2008 5:58 am

the following is a list of the different dry seeds that I make available to my birds, be interesting to see what others give to theirs

canary seed
white millet
jap millet
pannicum
red pannicum
hulled oats
niger
linseed
rape seed

plus a variety of spray's, the main two being white millet & red pannicum. these are eaten as quick as I can put them in the aviary.
hulled oats seem to be a favourite of the gouldians and stars.
rape seed is for its high fat content, I make this available mainly during winter.

I feed mine Japanese Millet, Canary Seed, German Seed, Proso, Rape (which they pick out and won't eat for some reason) Flax and Niger.

I also order the Lady Gouldian Mix and feed them that. They really love it, but it is cheaper for me to go to the bird fair and buy the differents seeds that they eat and mix my own.
And of course spray millet every day.... it is always available.
