Zip Tying cuttlebones?

I have new cuttlebones on the way. I hate the little metal holders, they are flimsy, and some of the plastic ones have bad reviews. One expensive plastic holder was apparently too large for the small cuttlebone and the bird got stuck in the extra space and died.
So I'm thinking of getting some of the larger more substantial zip ties and zip the cuttlebones to the cage bars. Has anyone tried this?

What I usually do, is poke them between the bars of the flight, the soft side facing a perch.
When one end gets chomped down, I turn them around.

I also grate cuttle bone into their bird grit mix.

I usually just poke a hole through the cuttlebone (I use one of those cake tester things, lol) and use string or cable tie to attach it flat against the wire. You just need to be careful when making the hole that you don't crack the entire cuttlebone

I use the two hole method, it works great. The metal holders you get when you buy cuttlebones in the store....I have seen to many accidents with those. Zip Ties work great!

I poke them through the bars of the cages as well - often times they get used as comfy perches until they get gnawed down so small that they need to be replaced.

I currently have a large piece of cuttlebone attached horizontally to the side of the cage with a twist-tie. As they eat it up, I'll switch to garden twine - I'll notch each side so the twine will "grab into" the cuttlebone a little bit.

I wouldn't use either method with budgies or other parrots because they will chew on the wire, which could hurt them, and they'd just bite THROUGH the twine. But it'll be fine for finches and canaries.

Cindy that was a great idea , once i changed the cage to square wire i couldnt figure out a way to hold the cuttle bone , thanks a bunch !
I have if you know that flat wire that holds the cables together , will that work?
