Couple of minutes in shallow dish full power...if it's deep dish they will scorch in the middle.

Hmmm, who was it that mentioned they were told it's more effective to bake or boil the shells? I can't remember.

Someone who posts regularly mentioned that microwaves aren't as effective at killing salmonella. Darn, I can't remember now. Seems hard to believe though, but they had read an article on it.

I always boil mine. I also pull off the thin film inside the shell. Seems to separate good after boiling.

I read it in one of the links on the gouldian species on the FIC, apparently some micro biologist said it was more effective to boil them than to microwave, but I agree I nuke mine too. I wash them first in water and then microwave for 3 minutes full power. No ways any bacteria can survive that IMO.

The microwave zaps the food with very high frequency radio waves, practically killing the large proportion of nutrients you want to provide your birds.

Personally I boil for 20 min until hard boiled and give egg (yolk and white), shell, inner lining and all mashed in a dish...

But everyone is different, whatever works for you I guess.

I chuck mine on the bottom shelf of the oven while the wife cooks dinner. I have heard cooking the shells alone in the microwave isn't good for the microwave.
