Hello
Well I have 2 European goldfinches around 3-4 months old.
which food should I give them to get them with good Red mask ? Also How long will it take for the color to appear ? As of now they lost most of their feathers around its neck.
I tried giving them Kale and pomegranates but they r not eating them
Do I need to keep a bathing bowl.
Thanks
Zatt

Hi mate,
All diet and nutrition and also info about the mask I've put on yer other original thread ,
Bath water should be placed in a shallow bowl on a daily basis,
All my finches have the option to bath any every day if need be

Dandelion greens worked best for my birds, but if you can't find those at the vegetable market, you can also try green leaf lettuce. Carrots can be shredded and added to the egg-food and paprika helps too.

I've also given grated carrots aswell mixed in with the egg food, carrots contain carotene and can very slightly enhance a birds overal colour
However I haven't bothered with lettuce no more for a number of years because it has no virtual goodness as it just basically contains water and doesn't Hold any nutritional value,
Yes the birds will eat lettuce but it doesn't really serve any purpose

Iceberg lettuce is very low in nutrients but romaine and leaf lettuce are nutritious.

I've used dandelions for various birds for years and I'd say are probably one of the best wild green foods that one can give to their birds,
A lot of good breeders swear by using dandelions for bring their birds into condition prior to breeding

Only problems is we don't get them out here..."dandelions"
Red capsicum is better right for the mask..

The trick is getting them to eat red pepper (red capsicum).
Goldfinches can be very picky eaters.

Yes, feeding red color food will work if it has canthaxanthin. Cede red factor food does not, but most others do.

The birds he's feeding red eggfood to are grey pates. They have already grown the wing bars so it's ok to feed red eggfood.
Goldfinches will have red masks if fed greens daily.
