That's a good retail price for a 1 year old in full color but In my area I've seen some nice birds on CL for as low as $60 from other collectors. Blue backs can go for over $220 each.
Not a commercial breeder but when I do have birds to re-home, I use the relatively high Finch Farm's price structure to set my prices - keeping in mind that raising healthy, high quality birds takes a lot of personal time and costs money to do it right.

Its hard to guess prices without knowing where you live. There are obviously regional variations as well as variations determined by mutation colors.
Put your location in your profile.
In general, pet store prices are somewhere around double the price you'd pay from a home breeder.

Yes the females are paler in color. Societies can house with gouldians as long as you're not breeding.

I personally would not house a zebra with a gouldian.

Here's a pic with a male and a female of the same color combination (normals). You can see there is a difference in brightness. Different color mutations might be trickier.

Top picture is a female, bottom pic a male.

There are loads of bird keepers in Florida. Look at craigslist or hoobly.com and you should find Gouldians from private parties at half the price you mentioned.

Gouldians and zebras are not a good mix. Zebs can be aggressive and Gouldians are peaceful.

Here in Calgary (Canada), Gouldians in Pet Shops go for $139.99 and up.
Buying directly from a breeder, a normal mutation will cost around $75.00, with more rare mutations costing more.

Regarding colours, yes Gouldians are quite lovely. Yes, males tend to have brighter and more vibrant colours.

Gouldians, can be housed with Societies.
I have on occasion housed Zebras with Gouldians, but you have to keep a close eye on them, plus you will need a fair size flight, so that everyone will have ample space.

You're kidding!

What are the odds of that?
I have metabolic stone disease, so I keep making the darn things :(( .

Ask for Ketorolac to help you . Ask for Morphine, and send me some, lol.

Actually Toradol, is Ketorolac by another name.
It is not like Aspirin, and can work wonders for helping with the inflamation caused by the stones, as it relaxes everything inside, to a point where you can pass the miserable stones with some greater ease.

Given sometime after Morphine, it can offer quite a bit of relief.

I am amazed that they didn't offer anything stronger for an acute attack of kidney stones that landed you in Emerge.

Has anybody suggested ESWL, or surgical intervension?

In the meanwhile, you know the drill, drink lots of water!

Hope you feel better soon.
