Filtered water fountain

Post by Featheredfriend » Mon Sep 25, 2017 2:32 pm

Hello Everyone! I was wondering if anyone has bought or made a water fountain for their aviaries that also filters the water for their birds. I feel so bad that my finches always poop in their water and that it is almost impossible to keep their water clean.

Wow. I can’t believe no one has replied to this query. I’m new to finches. I have a pair, two week old babes in the nest, am deeply in love with them and am very interested in an aviary fountain.

A filter will catch the particles but won't filter disease--fungus, bacteria or viruses.

I'd think that organisms could take up residence in the pores of the stones, too.

I can't see how that would keep clean long term. For this reason they have a water silo they can't poop in which is cleaned daily. And a shallow dish of water is also given every day for bathing.
