I think it is a male cos he sings a lot! So pretty! I read that I think on finch forum about the male psuedo binding! Can I buy, at the Jewel produce isle, swiss chard, chick weed, or silver beet?! Never even heard of many of these!!! You've been so helpful!

What is a jewel produce isle? I am confused here lol. Chickweed is a common weed that grows in our gardens, but it is entirely safe for birds. And silver beet we grow in our garden but you can buy it from the super market too.

Diana R Males don't lay eggs, only females do, so a male cannot get egg bound. Birds also don't have monthly bleeding, that is abnormal. Is it bleeding, or could it be diarrhea? Diarrhea can cause a messy vent, and you should also see that droppings on the bottom of the cage are mostly water, little solid stuff. Diarrhea can be caused by problems with the diet. I would suggest feeding it a basic diet of a good finch mix (no colored pellets in it), with treats/veggies limited to 2-3 times a week. Treats can be spray millet, egg food, veggies (I'd stop with the broccoli for a while). Try different greens, corn, peas, carrots, cucumber--birds have likes and dislikes just as we do, but if you keep offering, you can get them to try different things. I'd also lay off the vitamin supplements for a while. See how your bird does with a diet like this.
