Bug-zappers to collect insects

I read somewhere about using a electric bug zapper to collect insects to feed the birds. I've never owned such a device, and I don't know what the condition of the bugs were after the zap. Are they burned to a crisp, or would they be suitable for feeding? Anyone have any experience with bug-zappers?

It might be a way to get a wider variety of insects to feed instead of just using mealworms.

Thanks,

Mike

kcfd55 Yh it depends on what one you buy my mums restraunt had one in the kitchen near the door and it would buzz every bug that came in it doesn’t burn them to crisp but am not quite sure how you would get them off it because they get stuck

That is why I posted this question. I could get several zappers and see what happens, but that could get expensive after awhile. I don't want one that turns the insects to charcoal :) .

Thanks,

Mike
