Oster shell powder

Post by canary3000 » Tue Sep 04, 2018 1:28 am

Always looking for new things to add to my canaries diet, I found oyster shell powder on ebay.
My birds love this stuff. Always keeping it supplied. Around $12/per lb. including shipping.

Seems pretty pricey to me.
Crushed oyster shells typically sold to feed to chickens are cheap. Less than $1/lb. These are in pieces about 1/4 inch and can be further ground down to a powder in one of those cheap windmill type coffee grinders.

I often provide a mix of pulverized oyster and eggshells.
