Sprouted sunflower seed.

Post by canary3000 » Tue Sep 04, 2018 1:34 am

I know sunflower seeds are very high in fat content. Is there much benefit to sprouted sunflower seeds. My canaries are going thru a molt, so I add a bit more to their diet. Seeds are hulled and no salt. From nuts.com.

canary3000 - I truly don't know about the nutritional value of sprouted sunflower seeds. But if what you have is 'hulled' sunflower seeds, they won't sprout anyway (they need to be in the shell to sprout).
Maybe somebody else can chime in and let us know. Interesting question. This time of year, when several of my birds are molting, I feed lots of sprouted seed.

The sunflowers are sprouted and then shell removed. The seed flesh have a tiny growth on them. I will ask company how exactly they do it. I will check back with info.
