I have a whole length of spray millet in the cage. Would the finches be fine if I just kept that in the cage our would it adversely affect the diet of the birds?

You can offer a whole stick every week or two as a treat but it should not be in the cage constantly.

My four male gouldians always have millet sprays in their cage, it has not affected their diet and I believe it is good for them. They also have treat cup(s) containing finch seed mixed with LaFaber's finch-size pellets (50/50), chopped kale, ground-up Zupreem fruit pellets, Quiko dry egg food, sometimes chopped up hard-boiled egg, and they eat it all! They are little pigs! There is also a bowl of Herb Salad at the bottom of the cage that they forage in. Two of my birds just went thru a moult and are more beautiful than before.

i only use spray millet to get them to finger perch or as an incentive to get back in the cage
